Attorney Stephanie Modica is a native of Clermont, Florida, and a South Lake High School graduate. Stephanie then attended the University of Florida (Go Gators!), graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Subsequently, she earned her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from Roger Williams University School of Law. She was a participant in the Honors Program and Assistant editor of the Law Review.
Stephanie began her career as a Judicial Staff Attorney in Lake County for the Honorable Don F. Briggs, Honorable Mark A. Nacke, Honorable Michael G. Takac, and Honorable James Baxley. As Staff Attorney in both Circuit and County Court, Ms. Modica developed extensive knowledge and experience in various civil and criminal matters. They had the unique opportunity to work closely with the Judiciary from within the court system.
After her tenure as Staff Attorney, Stephanie was hired as an Assistant Public Defender serving under the Honorable Michael Graves, where she defended hundreds of juvenile, misdemeanor and felony cases. Throughout her career, Ms. Modica has been involved in a multitude of legal disputes with diverse issues of law and fact, including divorces, paternity actions, class actions, complex civil litigation matters, injunctions, and all forms of criminal defense, including post-conviction relief and appellate issues. Stephanie Modica brings her unique experience to Crawford, Modica & Holt, Chartered Attorneys at Law as a founding partner and head of the Criminal and Family Law divisions of the firm.
Recognizing the importance of giving back to her community, she participates in a wide variety of philanthropic pursuits. Stephanie is most proud of serving on the Board of Cornerstone Hospice. She believes her work with Cornerstone is an important way to honor her late husband’s memory, Frank Tricomi, who sadly passed away in 2011 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. In addition to her work with Cornerstone Hospice, Stephanie is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Lake County Bar Association, formerly served as President, and a volunteer with the Lake County Teen Court program. Stephanie has also served as a pro bono Guardian ad Litem and Attorney ad Litem for children involved in the dependency system.
In her free time, Stephanie loves playing golf with her dad (who ALWAYS beats her), practicing yoga, and hanging out with her miniature schnauzer, Barrington, and her Coton, Oliver, who are (naturally) the cutest dogs in the whole world!
