Jimmy D Crawford was born in Corpus Christi, TX in 1959, and lived his first 20 years or so in the Lone Star State. He and most of his family are unrepentant Texas Aggies (insert joke here). While you might not be able to tell it now if you catch him on his way to court in his shirt and tie, Jimmy was a forester for almost ten years in Louisiana, running logging crews, marking timber for harvesting, and planting trees. Jimmy went back to law school in the throes of an early and potentially misguided mid-life crisis, graduating in the top quarter of his class from the top environmental law school in the country.

Jimmy has practiced in Florida since 1994 and concentrates his practice in governmental law, land development, real estate, bankruptcy, and related litigation. Jimmy served as Board Attorney for Lake-Sumter State College and the Lake County Water Authority and served as Town Attorney for the Town of Montverde. He has had the honor of representing many of Lake County’s premier development projects of the past two decades of economic growth (and about three or four years of the worst recession since 1929!) His past clients read like a Who’s Who of the Florida development world, including Pringle Development, Lennar Homes, Home Depot, DeWitt Excavating, The Ginn Company, Montverde Academy, and the City of Saint Augustine. He has won major sanctions against banks and creditors for abuse of the bankruptcy and foreclosure processes, including a sanction award of over $200,000. However, his greatest legal accomplishment was actually performed as a Notary Public, in which capacity Jimmy has had the honor of marrying two beautiful couples, both of which, as of this writing, are still married!

When Jimmy isn’t representing his clients, he spends time with his outstanding and varied family unit, including his wife, Laura, a parade of kids back and forth through the house, including at least four that he claims to and the best dog in Florida. Jimmy golfs adequately, loves the outdoors, writes terrible country songs and performs them even worse, and is half-finished with the Great American Novel, which unfortunately has been half-finished for almost 20 years.

If you have a legal issue that you can “kick dirt on,” then it’s most likely a problem that Jimmy can help with.
