Attorney Freya McLain

Freya is a native Floridian, having grown up in South Florida. After high school, Freya came to Central Florida to attend the University of Central Florida, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies. Having already met the love of her life during college, Freya opted to stay in Central Florida, where she attended Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, graduating with her Juris Doctor Degree in 2006.

Freya began her career as an Assistant Public Defender for the Fifth Judicial Circuit in Lake County, Florida. During the eight years she spent with the Public Defender’s Office, Freya gained extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system and had the opportunity to defend thousands of cases in the areas of juvenile law, misdemeanor county court, felony circuit court, and mental health law. There is no experience like courtroom experience, and, with Freya, you can rest assured she has that in spades.

After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Freya went into private practice where she has handled various civil litigation issues with a heavy focus on family law. Freya has spent years representing clients in dissolution of marriage cases, paternity actions, child support litigation, Guardianship cases, and a multitude of other family law-related issues. This extensive experience and hands-on knowledge of courtroom procedure have allowed Freya to really focus on being results-driven and has given her the tools to resolve disputes creatively.

Freya gives back to her legal community by being on the Board of Directors for the Lake County Bar Association, where she participates in structuring continuing legal education seminars and helps organize events that provide benefit to the Lake County populace at large. In her spare time, Freya enjoys spending time with her husband and their two sons, Ethan and Cole. Both of her boys are heavily involved in sports, and, as a result, you can usually find Freya sitting on bleachers throughout the Central Florida area. When she is not chauffeuring children to and from sporting events/piano lessons, Freya enjoys reading deep, thought-provoking books (to satisfy a book club’s requirements she was tricked into joining by her “friends”) and romance novels.
